When Howard Orville Burt Jr was born on 4 February 1926, in Gardner, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Howard Orville Burt Sr., was 24 and his mother, Helen Rosamond Winship, was 22. He married Shirley Rose LaBounty on 17 June 1950, in New Hampshire in Keene, NH. Obituary Howard (Bud) O. Burt, Jr., 79, of Goodall Road in Rindge, NH died Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Jaffrey after a long illness. Bud was born on February 4, 1926 in Gardner, MA, son of the late Howard and Helen (Winship) Burt. He graduated from the former Peterborough High School and had served with the US Air Force. Bud had been employed by Park Construction of Fitzwilliam as a master mechanic for 12 years before he retired. Previously he had worked for Landers & Griffin of Portsmouth, and R. W. Payne of Keene. In 1974 he went to Alaska to work on the Alaskan Pipeline where he was employed by H.C. Price of Louisiana for ten years as a master mechanic. He had been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 for over 30 years and he was a former member of the Rindge Fire Department. Bud was an avid outdoorsman. He lived all his life in Rindge and had fished all of its lakes and rivers and hunted in all of its fields and woods. He was known by his friends as a man of generous heart and friendly smile. He was also known for his work in restoring antique automobiles, including his prized 1924 Model TT Ford, that he often drove through the town of Rindge. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley (LaBounty) Burt of Rindge, his children and their spouses, Timothy and Donna Burt of Sangerville Maine, Allyson and John Lewis of Tarpon Springs, FL, Gary and Susan Burt of Derry, NH, Randy Burt of Jaffrey, NH and Shelley and John Muzio of Chester, NJ, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. His parents and his brother Roger pre-deceased him. He has 2 surviving sisters, Jacqueline O’Connor of Jaffrey, and Joan Pasquale of Beverly Hills, FL. Family and friends are warmly invited to Calling Hours on Monday March 14, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Jaffrey. Rev. Malcolm Washburn, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in spring at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge.
